Steve Geller served in the Florida Legislature for 20 years.

One of Geller’s areas of practice is Tallahassee Lobbying and Administrative Law. Geller served in the Florida Legislature for 20 years, 9 years in the Florida House of Representatives and 11 years in the Florida Senate, retiring because of term limits in 2008. During this time, he served as Democratic (Minority) Leader of the Senate and was appointed a Committee Chair by two different Republican Senate Presidents and a Democratic Speaker of the House. Geller served as Government Affairs Director for Greenspoon Marder, a National law firm, until Geller left Greenspoon Marder following his election to the Broward County Commission. Geller still serves as a Broward County Commissioner. Geller has been lobbying the Florida Legislature and Executive Branch agencies since 2011, after his required two-year absence from the Legislature had expired.

Geller has represented clients in front of many Executive Branch agencies, including the Florida Land And Water Adjudicatory Commission, (which consists of the Governor and Cabinet), the Agency for Health, the Office of Insurance Regulation, the Department of Financial Services, the Chief Financial Officer, the Florida Elections Commission, etc. This representation has included both lobbying and quasi-judicial matters.

Geller has represented clients with divergent interests in front of the Legislature. These areas of interest include but are not limited to gambling, health care, cannabis, public adjusting, and local government.

In Tallahassee, Geller Law Firm has had a three-person lobbying team, with Geller as the lead lobbyist. The two other lobbyists retained by Geller Law Firm are David Sigerson and James Harris. Sigerson is a private attorney and governmental and political consultant with 30 years of Florida State legislative experience. He served in a number of different capacities connected with the Legislative process, including: Press Attaché for the Florida House of Representatives, Legislative Staff Attorney serving as committee staff in both the House and the Senate, Chief Legislative Aide to a State Senator, Executive Director of the Broward Legislative Delegation, and has spent the last 19 years in private practice as a lobbyist and governmental and political consultant. Harris has also been a long-time part of the legislative process as a lobbyist. Many Florida State Seminole fans remember James as Captain of the FSU football team defense, and . James is highly regarded among legislators, especially (although not exclusively) in the African American community. and brings diversity to the lobbying team. In addition to Sigerson and Harris, Geller has also been a part of other lobbying teams, including supervising one such team.

Geller has recently become “Of-Counsel” to the Sachs, Sax and Caplan (SSC) law firm. When in Tallahassee, Geller will operate out of the Tallahassee SSC office, and he looks forward to working with SSC Tallahassee attorney Bob Boyd, a longtime Tallahassee lobbyist.
